I had a diagnosis of endometrial cancer and started off with chemotherapy and then radiation. I was operated on in July of 2003 and given a colostomy and urostomy. I was shown how to use the wafers and pouches in the hospital. When I got home I had some problems with the urostomy the first week, because I didn’t realize I needed convexity but I saw the ET nurse and she taught me how to build up the wafer and I also ordered samples of other products.
I went to the United Ostomy convention they had here in Anaheim: a couple of years ago, and was told about the OALA. I have found the meetings real helpful and people doing the things they did before. I needed some help to see that.
This past July the doctor congratulated me on being cancer free for 5 years. So I’m real happy about that.
